Best Gas Powered Weed Eater

Best Gas Powered Weed Eater / Wacker / String Trimmer Reviews

There are many gas trimmer models on the market and they are considered more powerful than electric trimmers, but they are also heavier, louder and they require more maintenance. If you want a gas powered weed eater, then you should know that they come in two types: the 2–cycle gas weed wacker and the 4-cycle weed wacker. Those cycles are „steps“ engine has to make to start trimming and as you can assume, the number of cycles is 2 and 4.

The main difference between those two types is the engine, and each of them has its own pros and cons. For example, the 4-cycle gas weed trimmer requires less maintenance and you can mix gas with oil, while that is not recommended for the 2-cycle gas powered weed wacker models. Also, the good thing about 4-cycle gas powered trimmers is that they don’t pollute the air as much as the 2-cycle gas powered weed trimmers.

On the other hand, the 2-cycle gas weedeaters are more powerful, which means that you can use the weaker engine and get more power due to their performance. That means that you have to use a heavier and bulkier 4-cycle gas powered weed trimmers if you want to get the same power as the lighter and smaller 2-cycle trimmer.

All those differences aren’t that big and I am sure you would be satisfied with both types of gas-powered weed wacker models and that is why I have included them both in the list of best gas weed eater models below. That is right, below you will find top 5 2-cycle best gas string trimmer models and top 5 4-cycle gas powered weed eater models. The only thing you have to do is pick the one that you like the most.

Best Gas String Trimmer Models 2-cycle & 4-cycle

Best Gas Weed Wacker 2-Cycle Models

Husqvarna 128LD 17-Inch Gas String Trimmer, 28cc

The first 2-cycle gas trimmer I want to show you is pretty impressive as it comes with the 28cc 2-cycle engine and there are people who consider it a commercial gas weed trimmer. It means it is so strong that no weed can survive it and if you have annoyingly durable weeds, try this weed eater gas trimmer. The trimmer comes with a 17“ trimming line, which is a longer line than most electric trimmers on the market. The best part about the gas lawn trimmer (besides its strength and quality) is the fact that you can remove the trimmer head and replace it with some other gas trimmer attachments, like the edger, blower etc. You can easily consider this trimmer as a multi-tool which will keep your entire garden in the best condition, from top to bottom.

Pros:

It is a multi-tool so you can use it with other gas trimmer attachments.

It comes with a strong motor so you can consider it a professional gasoline string trimmer.

Cons:

It would be better if it came with a telescopic shaft.

Remington RM2510 Rustler 25cc 2-Cycle 16-Inch Gas Trimmer

Remington might not be the most famous gardening tool brand, but their products are pretty good. This is one of the best gas string trimmer models because you can adjust the design of the trimmer to you. That means you can easily choose the straight or the curved shaft, which one suits you best. If you don’t know the difference, then I suggest you start with the straight shaft because it is easier to control and you will be able to reach all the tricky places in your yard. This trimmer is slightly weaker than the gas weed wacker above, but it is still pretty good. It comes with the 25cc, 2-cycle engine so you can expect some serious trimming with it. The trimmer comes with the 16“ cutting line and it is equipped with the Quick Start technology so it will start within seconds. If you don’t need a beast, but you do need a gas weed trimmer that will do the task, then you should definitely consider this gas string trimmer.

Pros:

You can choose the straight or the curved shaft with this model.

It has a Quick Start technology that will start the engine in seconds.

Cons:

You can’t change the gas trimmer attachments.

Hitachi CG23ECPSL 22.5cc 2-Cycle Gas Powered String Trimmer

One of the best gas powered weed eater you should definitely check out is the Hitachi model. This trimmer is weaker than others, but it is stronger than most electric trimmers on the market, so it is still a pretty good trimmer that will cut everything you need. This gasoline string trimmer comes with a special anti-vibration system which reduces vibrations created by the engine so you can work for a longer period without feeling tired. The ergonomic loop handle will also make sure that the trimmer fits nicely in your hands and that you can do the entire work at once. Although it is not an edger, people use this trimmer as an edger too so you can be sure it is very easy to control it, even when you hold it sideways.

Pros:

The gas weed eater is so comfortable people use it as an edger too.

It comes with anti-vibration system to reduce vibrations.

Cons:

It is not as strong as others, but it will get the job done.

Poulan Pro 967105701 28cc 2-Stroke Gas Powered Straight Shaft Trimmer

This 2-stroke trimmer is pretty interesting because it is one of those models which are known as the gas weed eaters on sale. It means that you can save money with it, but you don’t have to sacrifice quality or performance. This trimmer comes with the 28cc 2-cycle engine, which makes it as strong as the first gas trimmer I have mentioned in my gas string trimmer reviews. Besides this strong engine, the trimmer comes with numerous user-friendly features like the spring assisted starting system for an easier start or Tap’N’Go head for easier control and head change. This is another multi-tool which means you can easily replace the trimmer head with some other, like an edger or a blower.

Pros:

It comes with a strong 2-cycle engine.

You can combine other head attachments so it is a multi-tool.

Cons:

It produces a lot of sounds so use earplugs.

Jonsered 25cc 2-Cycle Gas Powered Weed Eater, GT2125

Jonsered is not a famous brand and I actually have to admit that I don’t know a lot about them, but this trimmer is surprisingly good. You have to be aware that you can’t compare it with Black+Decker or Husqvarna trimmers and if you don’t do that, you will be satisfied. The 25cc, 2-cycle engine is pretty impressive and it will cut most of the weeds in your yard without too much effort. The trimmer is well-balanced and it fits nicely in your hands, but not perfectly. AS you can see, it is a good trimmer but it is not the best gas trimmer on this list. When you look at the price, you will notice that it comes with a good price to quality ratio and if you are looking for that, then you should definitely consider this trimmer.

Pros:

It is well-balanced and easy to control.

It has a good price to quality ratio.

Cons:

It is good, but it is not the best quality gas trimmer.

Best Gas Weed Wacker 4-Cycle Models

Remington 22-Inch 159cc Gas Wheeled String Trimmer Lawn Mower

The first gas trimmer on this 4-cycle list is one of a kind because this is the only walk behind trimmer I will show you. I am not a fan of walk-behind tools, but this one is so good I had to mention it. It is powered by special 159cc 4-cycle OHV engine and it is a trimmer and a lawn mower in one. It is one of the strongest trimmers in the entire post and you don’t have to worry about its weight since you push it around instead of carrying it. This beast trimmer will cut every inch of your yard and the best part is that you can fold the handle once you are done. That will save you a lot of space in the garage or any other storage you use for your tools. The 22“ cutting line will trim everything very fast and the big wheels will make sure that you don’t miss any weed regardless of the terrain. I am sure that you are thinking about those patches that are hard to reach, well people behind this trimmer thought about that too. That is why they made the off-set trimmer head that can trim even the hard reached places.

Pros:

It is a trimmer and a lawn mower in one.

If you prefer walk-behind trimmer then this one is a great choice for you.

Cons:

It is not easy to transport since it is heavy, but you can push it around.

Troy-Bilt TB575 EC 29cc 4-Cycle 17-Inch Gas Powered Weed Wacker

This gas trimmer is pretty similar to the second one I have mentioned in the 2-cycle gas trimmer reviews above because you can also choose the straight or the curved shaft of the trimmer. That way you can completely adjust the trimmer to your skills, which makes it a very user-friendly tool. Besides that, this trimmer comes with the 29cc 4-cycle engine which makes it a pretty strong tool. Besides being that user-friendly and strong you will love the fact that you can combine the engine with other gas trimmer attachments because the trimmer head comes off without too much effort. That way, you can use the base on every other attachment, just make sure that they fit perfectly on the trimmer.

Pros:

You can choose the straight or the curved shaft with this gas weed eater.

You can also change the trimmer head and turn it into other tools like edgers, hedge trimmers etc..

Cons:

I would recommend a strap with the trimmer since it has 18 pounds.

Husqvarna 967055801 4-Stroke Gas String Trimmer, 25cc/324 L

As I have already mentioned several times, Husqvarna is a giant in this industry so two of their trimmers in one post is not something surprising. This 4-cycle gas weed trimmer will get the job done just like its 2-cycle brother mentioned above. It comes with a straight shaft so you can easily control the entire tool and it is equipped with the Smart Start engine so you can start it in under a minute. Just like the model above, this one is not a lightweight gas weed eater so I would recommend using a shoulder strap with it so you can be sure that you won’t experience back pain after trimming. If you aren’t a fan of maintenance but you are a fan of Husqvarna, then you should go with the 4-cycle trimmer since they require less maintenance. That doesn’t mean you don’t have to maintain them, it just means you don’t have to do it too often.

Pros:

The Smart Start engine will make the starting process very easy and quick.

It doesn’t require that much maintenance as the Husqvarna 2-cycle gas weed eater I have mentioned above.

Cons:

I would recommend a shoulder strap with the trimmer since it has 17 pounds.

Honda HHT25SLTAT Gas Trimmer

This 4-cycle gas line trimmer is a great option for people who prefer that type of gas weed eaters. It is pretty comfortable to use and you can be sure that the 25cc 4-cycle engine will cut the weed you can find in your yard. The entire tool is well-balanced and it will fit almost perfectly in your hand so you can be sure that it is a good product. The 17“ cutting line make the entire job faster and the durable shaft will make sure that the tool lasts a long time. People are very pleased with this model, but they all thing that the bump head should be better. If you experience the same thing with it, just replace it with a better model, it is an easy task.

Pros:

It comes with the 25cc engine with great performance.

The 17“ cutting line will make the entire process end up faster than with models with the shorter line.

Cons:

The bump head should be better quality.

Makita String Trimmer 25.4CC 4-Stroke #EM2652LHN

Makita produces pretty similar gas-powered weed trimmers to Honda tools so you can expect a similar level of quality. The engine is the same 25cc engine like the Honda’s gas-powered string trimmer I have mentioned above with pretty good performance. The best part about this trimmer is the multi-position lubrication system which means that you can hold the gas trimmer in every position and it will work flawlessly. Tools that don’t have this feature can choke in some positions. The straight shaft on the gas weed eater is great but you can’t combine it with other attachments on the market. That is a downside but it is not a dealbreaker, at least not in my opinion.

Pros:

It fits nicely in your hand and it is well-balanced.

You can hold it in any position without chocking the engine thanks to the multi-position lubrication.

Cons:

The bump head should be better quality.
